Lindy Rama-Ellis (formerly Lindy Klim) might be known for conquering the fashion world over her extensive career — establishing a reputation for working with some of the world’s most recognisable and prestigious brands, including Toni Maticevski, La Mer, and Myer — but it’s the entrepreneur’s most recent venture that is perhaps her most impressive yet. Thanks to the launch of her beauty brand, Fig Femme, Rama-Ellis has tackled a topic that’s all too often shied away from, intimate wellness.
Fig Femme is centred on self-care for your intimate areas, originally launching with just one product: a vulva mask. While that particular sheet mask became the topic of countless conversations, Rama-Ellis has continued to grow Fig Femme to include a three-step program — “Refresh, Revive, and Restore.” That includes a pH-balanced foaming wash (refresh), a hydrating vulva mist (revive) and the original vulva mask (restore). While the products are all designed with the same goal in mind, to nourish and centre, it’s also about practicing self-care and connection.
From her home in Bali, Rama-Ellis opens up about the brand’s inception, as well as shares a peek inside some of her favourite fashion, beauty and home pieces.
“It's actually something I’ve had in mind for 15 plus years. In that time, I’ve had four vaginal births, and I was outraged at the postpartum care (yes — I’m talking about the frozen condoms in your underpants) for all four of them! Long story short, I wanted to create something that women could use during this time to soothe and nurture that area. During my research phase for FIG, we realised that something like this was needed for all women (think post-wax, IPL, tight underwear, long days in lycra). Therefore we developed something that would work for anyone with a vulva and postpartum — a few more things specific to post-birth are on their way too.”
“I’d define my individual style as classic modern with a masculine edge.”
“Because of COVID and being stuck in Bali, I have really switched off looking at fashion, which has meant I’ve taken a more casual approach to dressing. The last item I purchased was a pair of vintage Levi 501’s.”
“While it’s really difficult to buy clothes in Bali (as most things are imported and come with huge import duty’s), I have recently been getting into a lot of linen shorts and shirts made by a tailor here."
“My most regularly repurchased beauty item is… eyebrow gel from Benefit Cosmetics.”
“Before COVID, I used to love using products from Aspect and SkinBetter Science, but unfortunately, it’s impossible to get these products in Bali so now I’ve been using locally made products. I can’t wait to stock up again!”
“When it comes to makeup, I can’t live without NARS liquid foundation, Hourglass bronzer and Kevyn Aucoin mascara.”
“To decorate our table in Bali, I usually get the kids to help by collecting either shells or driftwood from the beach, or we love using tropical flowers and leaves!”
“At home, I can’t live without Diptyque candles—Baies in particular.”
