One look at Kate Bond’s personal style—a flowing collection of tailored suiting, sleek silks and designer accessories—it’s easy to see how the Sydney designer has quickly crafted one of Australia’s most sought-after labels. Bond Street, inspired by the timeless elegance Bond exudes in her own wardrobe, expertly bridges the gap between ready-to-wear and loungewear, presenting a collection of matching silk sets that has already seen sellout success (and the label has yet to reach its first birthday).
Taking a peek into Bond’s Black Book, the designer shares some of her most treasured pieces, the skincare products she can’t live without and the makeup essentials that sit centre stage in her vanity, as well as some of the special objects that make her feel most at home.
“I started Bond Street Luxury Nightwear because I always loved the way I felt when I wore beautiful pyjamas. I believe there’s something so casually elegant about the classic pyjama set, not to mention flattering! It seemed like such a shame to feel this good in something that no one else gets to see! So I wanted to come up with a hybrid that could easily be worn out to dinner or a party, or even brunch, as well as to bed, night after night. And so, Bond Street was born.”
“I would have to say one of the most treasured items in my wardrobe is my Chanel Classic Flap Bag. My parents bought it for me for my 21st Birthday and I still feel fabulous whenever I wear it. A forever piece.”
“The most sentimental piece of jewellery I own has to be my engagement ring!.."
"...My husband and I had it made with my sister-in-law, private jeweller Olivia Bond. The process was so special. I still stare at it every day.”
“The best pair of denim I’ve ever owned has to be the Agolde Riley Jeans – four years in and they are still the best wash, cut and fit. I can’t wait to wear them again after the baby.”
“My most regularly repurchased beauty item is anything from the Rationale Essential Six skincare range. A day on self-care sounds amazing! I’m fairly low maintenance when it comes to DIY beauty treatments but the most effective at home treatment that I’ve used would be Rationale’s #1 The Mask for an instant glow.”
“Last Christmas I decided to invest in beautiful table linens and it made me feel like such a grown up. I think a beautiful placemat and napkin can transform a table and are the perfect starting place for a special dinner at home. Since then I’ve loved adding to our table with special pieces by Astier Di Villatte, Bordallo Pinheiro and Alex & Trahanas.”
“For me, the things that make a house a home are the special objects you’ve collected over time. Coffee table books, artworks and trinkets collected over the years. I also can’t go past flowers and lamps! Lighting makes all the difference.”
