If there's one thing Milan Fashion Week is known for, it's daring designs and equally as bold beauty. For the Spring/Summer '24 season, this rings true — and it seems there was one standout makeup look that most designers turned to: a red lip. Whether it was a more classic hue or a deeper shade, it was a standout trend that we're instantly applying.
Gucci
For Sabato De Sarno’s first collection as Gucci’s creative director, taking over from Alessandro Michele, the designer opted to match the collection’s statement accessories to an equally statement-making beauty look. To accompany the Italian fashion house’s red-hued accents, including a standout cherry red Jackie bag, a bright, bold lip offered an unexpected colour pop, made even more daring with a clear gloss to finish it off.
N21
With a collection that featured designs in a mix of black, white, and nude, N21 turned to the world’s most iconic beauty look to compliment its moody palette — a red lip. It was as classic as the shade comes, applied to precision, adding a hint of colour to the otherwise muted collection.
Max Mara
Amongst the sea of Max Mara's camel, sage green, and pastel pink designs, the fashion house opted for a deep, berry-like lipstick shade alongside airbrushed skin. While it's not usually the shade you'd grab for first in the warm weather, Max Mara proves it should be.
BOSS
With a focus on clean-cut tailoring and a look to the future, BOSS’ Milan Fashion Week presentation was anything but subdued. The office-ready, futuristic lens was naturally brought to the beauty, pairing its collection of knee-length skirts, blazers, and knitwear with a deep berry lip that is both striking and strong.
